As we follow the struggles of grandparents trying to gain custody of their grandchildren or adopting grandchildren, we find that Frana Mace, a grandmother, has won a seat in the state legislature!!!! Rep. Frana Mace co-sponsored and helped pass House Bill 99-1218. The bill was authored by attorney Pam Gordon, who works with a lot of our grandparents in Colorado. HB 99-1218 will now allow grand-parents in Colorado to adopt their grandchildren after they have had custody of them for a year or more. TANF Subsidy |

of grandparents and their plight in raising their
grandchildren.

More can be done to make
life better for our grandparents. But, until that happens, the
GRC will continue to collaborate with the Department of Social
Services and other community service agencies to provide needed
assistance to our grandparents and relatives raising children.
